Ariana Grande — Focus

"Focus" is a song by American pop singer, Ariana Grande. It was released on Oct 30, 2015 and was sent to radio a few days later on November 3. It was originally intended to be the lead single for Ariana's third studio album, which was originally titled "Moonlight". The title "Moonlight" was eventually scrapped, and "Dangerous Woman" was titled her third studio album instead, with "Dangerous Woman" as the lead single.

Upon its release, the track received mixed reviews, with some praising Grande's vocals and the brassy production, while others criticized its similarity to her 2014 hit, "Problem (feat. Iggy Azalea)". Despite the mixed reviews, the song debut at #7 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Grande's first solo song to reach the top 10. The track also reached the top ten in Canada, Australia, Greece, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Israel, and the United Kingdom. It was featured on numerous year-end charts, at #75 in the Netherlands, #87 in Canada, and #42 by Stereogum. By January 2016, "Focus" sold 544,000 copies in the United States and was certified double Platinum by the RIAA. It is also certified Diamond in Brazil.

Musically, the song is a retro-styled pop song featuring a strong big-band brass section throughout. It features strong instrumentation throughout, with saxophone, trumpet, and a trombone, slayed with smooth synths and a banging percussion of handclaps and cowbells. Lyrically, the song describes Grande's dedication to being real, asking people to focus on her. Grande states the song "addresses her haters and insists that they address her realness". "Focus" is included on the Japan Version of "Dangerous Woman". As of 2022, the song remains one of Ariana Grande's most streamed music videos, with nearly 1 billion views.
