"Here's to Never Growing Up" was written by Lavigne, Martin Johnson, David Hodges, Chad Kroeger, and Jacob Kasher, and was produced by Martin Johnson. Lavigne announced the title of the first single from her fifth studio album on 8 February 2013 via Twitter. On 20 March 2013, Lavigne announced the scheduled release date for the song to be 9 April 2013, and released an 11-second snippet of the track. Lavigne later released the single's official artwork via Twitter on 3 April 2013. The artwork was criticized for displaying a lack of maturity in Lavigne's music and artistry, primarily due to her appearing nude on the single cover. On 6 April 2013, Epic Records released a 19-second snippet of the track and official lyric video. The song premiered on iTunes on 9 April 2013, and receive its radio premiere the same day on On Air with Ryan Seacrest. The official lyric video for "Here’s to Never Growing Up", which is entirely made up of fan submitted photos and videos, will also be released on 9 April 2013.
