Anyone who hears the song might describe it as having an Eastern feel. And indeed it does, for it was borrowed directly from a famous Abdel Halim Hafez song entitled "Khosara." Abdel Halim Hafez is one of the most famous musicians in the history of Arabic music and probably second most beloved in Egypt behind Oum Kalthoum. Yet, Jay-Z did not credit Abdel Halim Hafez or his composer Baligh Hamdi for the beat that made him millions of dollars. Imagine an Arab musician taking the beginning of Led Zepplin's "Stairway to Heavan" uncredited and getting rich off it.
